The God I Know

I am not a theologian nor a Bible scholar. I was not even raised with a strong Christian family. I received Christ as Lord and personal Savior when I was 15 years old. Not quiet young, not quiet old. But still have a long journey with God which I believe will be full of wonders :D I entered into God's family with such an excitement. Hunger and thirst of the Word of God. Never find it enough of hearing, never find it enough of learning. Yet the journey was not a highway ... there's ups and downs; bend here, bend there; sunshine and rain. It has been seven years since then, and it's my longing to share with you about this Person whom I walk with. So here's a simple description of God made by a nobody who has been saved by the grace of God and has become daughter of King of all Kings..

The God I know ... is faithful.
He isn't always seen [well, He's invisible afterall ;D],yet He always sees and hears.
He never promises a life with no problems, yet He promises to be with us and even carry us through those problems.
He prioritizes us, even when we don't prioritize Him.
He remembers us, even when we forget Him.
He never lacks of time for us, even when we often skip quiet time with Him.
He is in every our Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday; even when we meet Him only on Sunday to fulfill our 'Christian' obligation.
He keeps on waiting for us to come back, even when we can't wait for long in His presence.
You can go as far as the end of this earth ... yet find Him keeps waiting for you to return.

Faithful is He Who is calling you [to Himself] and utterly trustworthy, and He will also do it [fulfill His call by hallowing and keeping you]. 1 Thessalonians 5: 24

[Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler. Psalm 91: 4

If we are faithless [do not believe and are untrue to Him], He remains true (faithful to His Word and His righteous character), for He cannot deny Himself. 2 Timothy 2: 13

The God I know ... is merciful and just.
He loves to forgive, He loves to forget our sins.
He prefer to die for our sake, rather than to punish us.
He shows mercy to those who come to Him in genuine repentance.

The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous [abounding] in mercy - Psalm 103:8 [KJV]

For His merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD - Psalm 117:2[KJV]

...and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever - Jeremiah 3:12 [KJV]

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort -2 Corinthians 1:3 [KJV]

(For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them -Deuteronomy 4:31 [KJV]

The God I know ... cannot lie.
When He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father except through me." He did not lie, for He cannot lie. [John 14:6]

When He said, "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." He did not lie, for He cannot lie.
[Jeremiah 29:11]

When He said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you" He did not lie, for He cannot lie. {Hebrews 13:5]

When He said, "And we know that in ALL (good and bad) things God works for the good of those who love Him, [to them] who have been called according to His purpose" He did not lie, for He cannot lie. [Romans 8:28]

When He said, "Do not worry for tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own" He did not lie, for He cannot lie. [Matthew 6:34]

All His promises which are too many to be counted ... are true. For He cannot lie.

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began - Titus 1:2 [KJV]

... in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us - Hebrew 6:18 [KJV]

The God I know ... is all good.
What may seems wrong at the moment, He intends it for good.
Isaiah 55:8 [NIV]
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,"
declares the Lord.

He is all light, he is all good. In Him, there's no darkness nor evil.
1 John 1:5 [NIV]
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

A faith grows strong only in a foundation that whatever happens in our life, our God is good, good, good, and all... good.

"He is good; his love endures forever." - 2 Chronicles 7:3 [NIV]

Good and upright is the LORD: therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. - Psalm 25:8 [NIV]

The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made - Psalm 145:9 [NIV]

How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you - Psalm 31:19 [NIV]

The God I know ... is love.

When it comes to love, He is the expert. For He is the source of love. He is love.
His love is higher than the sky, deeper than the sea, unfathomable of our timid minds.
Yes.. all we see now will pass away.. but one thing will endure forever.. His love.

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. -1 John 4:8 [NIV]

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16 [NIV]

But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children - Psalm 103:17 [NIV]

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. - 1 John 3:16 [NIV]

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 1 John 4:12 [NIV]

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 [NIV]

They are only 'a few' of attributes of the God I know. Well.. to write them all, I guess it will never end :) May His words strengthen each of you and draw you to a more intimate relationship with Him.

Yes He is our God. He is our groom. He is our lover. He is our friend. He is our all in all.
